Are you looking for someplace to take your vacation and to see something interesting? You don’t need to look any further than the state of Maryland. Admittedly, it is one of the smallest states in the United States but it is so jampacked full of things to do, you would have a difficult time doing them in a single trip.
The state of Maryland is often referred to as America in miniature. After all, when you travel across the state, you are going to find almost every type of natural feature that can be found in any other area of the world. The only exception to that rule is a desert, but that is only because there is so much water within the state. Also, the state of Maryland has a fantastic history and that is true of US history as well.
Western Maryland is one of the best options for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy some time in the woods. With beautiful mountains, plenty of scenery and lots of places to stretch out, it is a part of the country that is all too often ignored. Regardless of whether you are looking for a drive through the country or if you want to stretch your legs and hike for a while, make sure you consider Western Maryland as one of your destinations.
History is also something that is very big in Maryland, and you can find it in almost any location. Not only does it have ancient history that can be explored, but you also have more recent history, including the Civil War. The Antietam battlefield is something that should not be missed, and you can check out many of the small surrounding towns because they all have their story.
If you want to visit a city, Baltimore is one that should be on your to-do list. There is so much diversity within the city it is difficult to know what to do at times. That being said, make sure you check out the Inner Harbor and the national aquarium. It is a day trip that is well worth the effort.
As you can see, Maryland offers much to those who enter its borders. Stop by for a visit and explore all that the state has to offer. When you do so, you may just find that you are coming back over and over again.
